Active and retired nurses volunteering their time to honor fellow nurses. It is an honor and a privilege to help bring a family peace in a difficult time.
Eligibility
Membership is open to active and retired nurses, including nurse practitioners, registered nurses and licensed practical nurses, as well as senior nursing students in good standing who provide a letter of recommendation from their nursing professor.
No prior ceremonial experience is required. Most of what we do is learned by standing alongside experienced members and participating together. What matters most is your willingness to travel to a service, honor a fellow nurse and stand beside their family and loved ones during an important moment.

What to expect
Members travel throughout the region to attend funeral and memorial services for fellow nurses. Throughout the year, we also participate in nursing school graduations, honor cordons and community events, providing opportunities to celebrate, honor and support the nursing profession at every stage.
Members are asked to attend at least four monthly meetings and participate in at least four services each year. This helps ensure that members remain engaged, familiar with our traditions and procedures and prepared to serve alongside fellow members.
There is a $90 membership fee, which includes your cape, cap, gloves, Honor Guard pin, and pearl earrings. For gentleman, the fee includes a stole and Honor Guard pin. Dues are $30 yearly thereafter.
Members are responsible for purchasing their own uniform. The cost will vary depending on where the uniform is purchased and the style selected. Our Honor Guard allows members to wear either a traditional dress or a pantsuit, providing flexibility while maintaining a professional and
respectful appearance.
Our goal is to make participation accessible while ensuring that every member is properly prepared to represent the East Tennessee Nurse Honor Guard with dignity and professionalism.
